Achievement Guide – Of Orcs And Men

Text guide to getting all the achievements in the action RPG, Of Orcs And Men.

Introduction

Of Orcs And Men is an action RPG, basically the sequel to the Styx games. This game has many achievements, and most of them are chapter-specific, and missable. There’s no chapter select, and don’t count on autosaves, since if you are forced into a cutscene before doing something, sometimes it leads to another cutscenes that saves over it. To be safe, make a quicksave before talking to characters.

The chapter-specific achievements are listed in a chronological order and most are missable, unless noted otherwise.

Difficulty

Rakash: Finish Of Orcs and Men at Easy level

Mercenary: Finish Of Orcs and Men at Normal level

Warrior: Finish Of Orcs and Men at Hard level

Bloodjaw: Finish Of Orcs and Men at the highest difficulty level

These achievements stack, so pick whichever suits you best.

Items and Skills

Back to business/All this for that: Trade an item

The achievement is misnamed, as it shares a name with another. When you first reach a merchant, Spearhead in Black Hand Camp, sell an item to him, gaining 1 trade point. Can be done with any merchant.

Go bling-bling: Equip a full set of upgraded equipment (weapons and armor)

You have 4 upgradeable item slots. Weapon, body armor, gloves, and pants. When you have 4 trade points, upgrade one in each slot and equip them.

Big chest lover: Find and empty 20 chests

You will sometimes see a chest or sack that is glowing orange. Approach and open 20 of these, usually containing items. There are many, if you happen to miss some, the count stays even on your next playthrough. They’re not really hidden if you explore. Usually in side rooms, check the ones that has a dead end.

Smart and smarter: Upgrade a Skill

When you get a skill point, open the skill menu and click on the skill with + logo and pick the upgrade. You can only pick one, and skill points cannot be changed or refunded.

I know a shortcut: Bind Skills to both of each character’s shortcut keys

In the skills menu you can bind a skill to a number, 1-9. Bind at least one on each character.

To each his branch: Learn every Skill in a single tree.

Unlock all the skills in any one of the 3 skill trees. No need to upgrade them, yet.

My house!: Learn and improve every Skill in a single tree.

Like above, but upgrade every skill. Don’t forget the big circle in the middle.

Combat

I’m a killer: Assa*sinate 47 enemies

As Styx, press Shift to turn almost invisible, and kill 47 enemies from behind, preferably isolated ones so you can kill more. Also, a Hitman reference.

Poisoner:Poison three different enemies at the same time

At level 6, unlock the Poisoned Daggers skill for Styx. When there are 3 or more enemies, use your 3 poison charges on each one.

Jack of all blades: Hit eight enemies with a single attack

Use Styx’s Rain of Blades or Arkail’s Round Attack when you are surrounded by enemies. Recommend trying this on goblin enemies, since they come in swarms and are pretty weak.

You crack me up: Break 15 spinal columns while Berserk

While Arkail is berserk (red meter full and he becomes non-responsive to commands) sometimes he will grab human enemies and break their backs. You don’t have to be controlling him for it to count. Carries over playthroughs.

Manual worker: Defeat a boss without using an automatic attack (a*sa*sinations excluded)

A “boss” is basically any named enemy. When you fight them, stick to one character and keep queuing commands.

Chapter 1

The hard way: Answer Sork’s provocation in a language he understands

Talk it out: Have Styx calm things down a bit

Mutually exclusive. Early in the game you will meet an Orc working for humans. For the first one, choose “Arkail: Shut your damn mouth, traitor!” and for the 2nd one choose “Styx: Uhm, Sergeant, you gonna let him do that?”. There’s an autosave right before this event, reload to get the other one. Other than some dialogue change it doesn’t matter.

Deratizator: Deal with the Scourge issue in the shantytown

In Black Hand Camp, Monkey will inform you of a scourge. Accept and finish the mission.

Well trained: Kill Dorek the Trainer

After you challenge all Black Hand members, challenge The Last. He will refuse. Talk to Fox and she will give you a mission to kill Dorek. Finish it.

Hand shake: Win the Black Hand challenge

After killing Dorek, challenge The Last and beat him.

A hair too late: Save a brunette in distress

After the chapel main quest with Raven, talk to Fox who will mention an ally needs help. Accept the mission and finish it.

One less nutcase: Put an end to the madness of the Shaman of the Bowels

Near the end of the chapter you will meet a shaman in the sewers, but he will leave. When you return to camp you will have an option to go back and save a friend from the shaman. Accept and finish the mission.

Off the Wall: Complete Chapter 1 on any difficulty setting

Story-related. Finish the chapter.

Chapter 2

King of the arena: Survive the Row

Story-related. Happens early in the chapter.

Cla*s struggle: Prevent a miners’ revolt in the Mire

When you reach your new camp talk to Adek. He will give you a sidequest about miners, accept and finish it.

The beast and the beast: Be buddy-buddy with a force of nature

Back in camp, talk to Garok and keep talking about his past. He will mention Dorek, and you can tell him you killed him. If you skipped the Dorek sidequest, you can’t get this.

Throat-slitter: Let Styx take out the Imperial sentinels of the Mire on his own

Later on, Adek will give a quest about Imperial guards. Let Styx handle it alone and finish the easy and fun stealth section.

I don’t like chit-chat: Kill Gorkash the Head Foreman without further ado

You will get a main quest to kill the Head Foreman. When you approach him, a cutscene starts. Choose to kill him without talking. Reload your save before you enter the final part if you wanna get some dialogue.

All this for that: Take pure water to the Shaman of the Mire

When you return to camp talk to Drakane, the hooded orc. He will give you a sidequest to get some water, accept and finish it.

You mythed!: Confront Braggart with his lies

When you return after the sidequest, talk to an orc named Braggart. Arkail will call out his lies. Probably missable if you didn’t defeat The Last in the 1st chapter.

No quarter: Kill all the dug-in foremen and guards

A main quest will make you deal with the remaining traitor orcs. Make a manual save or quicksave before the final area, and choose to kill the last one. Do this first, because you need him for later.

Samaritan: Spare Dakath the repentant

Reload your save and spare the orc.

Guidance counselor: Put together the best squad possible to a*sault the Pillar

Near the end of the chapter you will have to appoint an a*sault squad. Appoint Dakath as the runner, Drakane as the strategist, and Garok as the warrior.

Team spirit: Put together a special squad to a*sault the Pillar

Story-related. Unlocks after appointing the squad.

In open air: Finish Chapter 2 at any difficulty level

Story-related. Finish the chapter.

Chapter 3

Nobody’s perfect: Kill the Imperial officer in the Monastery

The chapter starts with a series of cutscenes. Styx will be suspicious of an Imperial officer there, choose the dialogue options to investigate him, and finish the sidequest.

Slicer-Dicer: Follow the path of the Assa*sin

Into the shadow: Follow the way of the Shadowgoblin

Mutually exclusive. When you enter Styx’s mind, after a fight you will have to choose one. Pick the one you don’t want, reload, fight again, and choose the other. I recommend Shadowgoblin.

Inner rage: Follow the path of the Berserker

Anger management: Follow the path of the Master

Mutually exclusive. When you enter Arkail’s mind after Styx’s, after a fight you will have to choose one. Pick the one you don’t want, reload, fight again, and choose the other. I recommend Master.

I’ve got my friends in my head: Finish Chapter 3 at any difficulty level

Story-related. Finish the chapter.

Chapter 4-5

Regicide the first: Kill Emperor Damocles

Near the end of the chapter, you will enter a temple and both characters will go separate ways. When the dialogue option appears, choose to kill the Emperor. Reload a previous save if you wanna see the alternate dialogue if you don’t. Either way, he still dies.

Your sister too: Finish Chapter 4 at any difficulty level

Story-related. Finish the chapter.

Repeat offender: Finish Chapter 5 at any difficulty level

Story-related. Finish the chapter. There are no missable achievements and is basically the only achievement in Chapter 5, aside from difficulty-related ones.
