Walkthrough and Hint-Guide for Blackwinter Tales, Orbital: A downloadable map for Escape Simulator.

Overview

Welcome to the Blackwinter Tales Orbital Walkthrough Guide.

This guide is divided into two sections. One section contains a hint guide that can help you get a tip and another section that walks you through the solutions.

You must make your way through H.M.S. before you can complete the Escape Room. The Escape Room requires you to act quickly and try to understand what happened before you can take your final action on the bridge.

This room is full with mystery and puzzles. Read all logs and materials carefully to uncover what happened in your role of investigator.

Good luck and have fun!

Shuttlebay: Hint guide

This section will give tips and tricks to help you manage each step of the way without getting too involved. If you need help, the walkthrough section will provide the answers.

Shuttlebay

Let’s get your investigation started! Get out the tablet, place it on the ground and start to explore the deck.

Hint Guide – Command Deck

What did the tablet describing your mission reveal about who you should contact first?

You should look around to see if there is a way you can get to the deck that you need perhaps a diagram of your current deck would be helpful to show what’s available online and what’s not?

Hint Guide – Medi-Bay

Take a look at the Medbay to find out if you can pick up any details on what has been happening onboard these last few days.

The medicine cabinet looks great – it might be of use later.

Try to crack the pa*sword of the Chief Med Officer’s computer by going to her office. You might find clues in the vicinity that could help you guess the pa*sword.

Once you are in, read the CMO’s thoughts before returning to the Command Deck…

Hint: Command Deck (, second visit)

Two codes are now available for certain quarters. You can refer to the map again to find out where to look.

Callaghan’s Quarters

Callaghan’s computer clues should be found here (. Check the screen hint for more information).

Callaghan appears to be trying to speak with another crew member over some concerns…take a note off the tablet to help you get to the next quarters.

Simms’ Quarters

CMO Simms seems to have locked out the Science Labs lift shafts. You should be capable of activating them here.

Check the rest to see what Simms might have in the room.

Batemans Quarters

As always, take a good looking around. For some clues, check high and low as the computer terminal. You should be familiar with the hints that the crew left to reveal their pa*swords by now. This shouldn’t be too difficult for you.

It seems like there is something interesting in your briefing room, which you might want check out. But you can’t yet get in there. For now, go to Simms’ quarters and access the deck.

Hint Guide – Science II

Welcome to Science Labs. It looks like Science II is not accessible, but take a look around.

The Compound actuator

Although the Compound Actuator appears confusing, it is easy to identify two canisters you need to insert, one red and one white. These can then be used to activate your unit.

There are several canisters in the vicinity. You can see their names and codes by hovering over them. Are there any similar codes you have seen before?

You now need to find the canisters you have chosen. If they aren’t all here, where can you store them?

Once you have them, put the canisters in and watch what happens. If you’re not a scientist in the 23rd, you might need a reference book to help you. It sounds like something that a doctor might have…

If you’ve read this far, you have probably identified the components of those compounds. I wonder who would be interested in making such a compound ….? And why ….?

Environmental Test Lab

Here scientists are able to test a wide range of dispensable drugs and their effects on different types of flora. The screen looks like they’ve found something interesting. Do you want to replicate their experiment?

To do that, however, you need to find the right combination of chemicals first. Fortunately, Lt. Lux gives you a clue as to where to find it…best to go back to that deck.

Command Deck (- Third time)

You should know where the crew quarters are and have a code to access them. Take a look around, and try to find any clues as to the chemical mix. Although you will not be able to access the computer, it looks like you will need some additional information before you can see the contents of Lt. Liu’s writings.

Environmental Test Lab (, second time)

Select the correct mixture and place them in the test area. Miraculous! Miraculous!

Fourth time Command Deck (

Take a look at Liu’s thoughts from the crew quarters.

If you haven’t done it yet, you should reactivate your lift shaft which will take you down into the cargo bays. This is the only new area you have at the moment. Get down there!

Hint Guide – Cargo Bays & Engineering

Check out the new deck.

Check your cargo bay for anything you might need. Liu informed you that there was some equipment down there that could help you get into Captain’s quarters. Make sure you have it with you!

It seems like the engineering crew was working in the anti-grav storage unit. They were kind enough though to leave some clues about the storage crates that will unlock these units.

You can check out the screen and see if there are any ‘lighter-than-air’ or totally unreal’ items. You’ll need to deduce which box belongs where, as the database is corrupted.

After activating your unit, you will be able recover what was left behind.

The tablet on top of the table gave one more piece information – the code for Deck 2’s entrance. It sounds interesting, so it’s worth looking at…

Engineering Gangway, (via Medi-Bay. Deck 2.

Take a look around the storage crates and see if there are any items you can use elsewhere.

You will find the main engineering section. Check the status screen to the right as you enter; it looks like the engineering database has been offline due to the extensive damage.

To get it back, you need to go into the little hole and see if your luck.

You’ll need reroute conduits so all four ‘couples’ for the engineering databases are active at the moment. It is impossible to have them all active on the same board. You will need to ensure that all four are active on both boards.

Once that’s online, you can have a look at the status log and see what crew members have been doing in the last few hours. You can now enter the Mess Hall

Hint Guide – Command Deck (fifth edition)).

Mess Hall

There are a few things to do once you have access the Mess Hall. You can look around the kitchen for any useful items to help you get on your way. It’s possible that someone malicious was unable properly dispose of some evidence because the waste disposal units were not working correctly.

If you think back to logs from the past, did someone suggest “shutting up shop”? What could that actually mean? Look around the kitchen to find out if there is another clue.

Once you have the clue, use the engineering isolator. After you’ve used the Crowbar, the item will disappear from inventory. You’ve made all the dark places, now what? Can you find something that will help you see where you need to go?

Briefing Room

If you’re following Elena’s trail you’ll want to find out where she stored the personnel files. Although the conduit looks promising, it is not coded. The tablet on a table will give you some clues.

The diagram you’ve drawn is not a good representation of what we’ve seen. It must be in one room that you haven’t yet toured. Captain Ascott’s quarters look untouched. Did Liu mention the Cargo Bays tool that she found?

Captain’s Quarters

Ah, that executive toy in the chest of drawers seems vaguely familiar. Let’s see what happens if you put the balls in the ballrun exactly as the diagram shows. Is this a clue for a code or a lead?

To access the computer to view the personnel files, you will need additional information and to do some maths. We’ll return to that shortly…

Oh and don’t forget to look for anything suspicious….particularly if it’s incongruous for someone who doesn’t need a haircut!

Briefing room (second time)

So now you can get into the service conduit…but Elena changed her mind! She has deleted all personnel files. You will need to log back in to the Captain’s Computer if you wish to look at them. What can you do to help with this?

The personnel logs are optional. However, take a good look at them and see whether they confirm your suspicions of who is responsible.

The only thing you need to do is get on the Bridge. Take a closer inspection of the holodisplay located in the middle of the table. Give it a few spins to see what Elena meant.

Hint Guide: The Bridge

This is it. Now that you are able to get into the Bridge, you will need to decide on a course.

Take a look at the AI Command software. The AI Command software has already suggested a few options for you to follow. You can take a look back at everything you’ve learned on board, and then make your choice.

There are three different endings available depending on your choice. Good luck, Commander!

Shuttlebay Walkthrough

Take the tablet off of the floor and inspect it. To switch screens you can click on any of the categories on the tablet. To turn the tablet on again, click on the centre of your tablet.

Walk to the end, and click the service hatch to exit this deck.

Walkthrough: Command Deck

CMO Simms, in the Medibay on Deck 2, was advised by the tablet. You will need the codes to all doors. Only one Express Lift is working. Go down to Deck 2. Then, enter the Medi Bay.

Walkthrough: Medi-Bay

Note the screens on the beds. Marquis recently died from critical hypertension. Callaghan is also missing. Suspicious…

Multiple canisters with different chemicals are stored in the medical cabinet. These canisters are available in the medical cabinet.

Click the screen to reveal the pa*sword hint for the CMO’s Office. Click out to go to the desk’s photoframe. Zoom in, and click through the photos to locate the last picture titled ‘Petra. This is your terminal pa*sword. To unlock it, use PETRA on keyboard

This gives you two codes. Callaghan’s quarters (2257 – and Simms’ quarters (9724). Head to Callaghan’s…

Walkthrough: Command Deck (second Time)).

Return to Deck 1 for Executive Quarters.

Callaghan’s Quarters

Use 2257 to enter Ensign Callaghan’s quarters.

To find a handwritten code to Bateman’s quarters, (56161 – check the tablet at the bed.

Examining a reminder for the terminal that says “best-in-cla*s” – the trophy is on the shelf and has the pa*sword 2236. This will unlock the terminal.

Leah Callaghan writes to her parents to say that she loves purple, and had recently received a locket from her mother. She also mentions a mysterious code she found in navigational files. She wants to talk to Commander Bateman about it. Head next to Simms’ quarters.

Simms’ Quarters

Follow the corridor to CMO Simms quarters. Use 9724 You can verify the monitor by looking at the wall, and then reactivate your lift shaft to the Science Lab.

The Pharmacopoeia is located at the bottom draw. The database speaks of Tetramitrogen Hydroxycylin which can cause critical hypertension when inhaled or injected.

Turn left to Bateman’s quarters.

Batemans Quarters

To find the chemical codes A32 and D49, check the floor at the foot of the bed.

You can access the terminal using the pa*sword Mars’ (Mars Raceway). Marquis sent an incoming email to inform him that she received a strange command from Captain to send him a replica of the personnel files (. These files detail the special skills) of the crew members and that she had hidden a copy in her Briefing Room for just in case.

Now that the Science lab is unlocked, you can access it via the Express Lift at the Bridge.

Look at the trophy on the bed. It has a bloodstain.

Science II: Walkthrough

The Compound actuator

Pick up chemical D49 side by side. To obtain A32 from the storage cupboard, you’ll need go back to Medi-Bay. The Actuator would produce Tetramitrogenhydroxycylin if both compounds were placed in it. Security Level 3 or greater required…

Environmental Test Lab

You can check the monitor to find Liu’s quarters code, (1532 –

You’ll need to know how Sodium Hydroxide, Zirconium, and Ha*sium mix to find Lux and Liu. This mix can also be found in Liu’s quarters on Deck 1…

Command Deck (third edition))

Head to Liu’s quarters and use code 1532 on the front door. Check the note on the monitor to determine which chemical is going in which direction. Next, look at the game near the door for the values you need to a*sign.

The mix is 4 Sodium Hydroxide (2 Zirconium) and 5 Ha*sium((4:2:5) -.

You will need the ProfileID from the Environmental Test Lab to access the computer.

Environmental Test Lab (second-time)).

Select the fourth button at the top row (Sodium Hydroxide). Then press the Dispense’ button to watch your plants grow. This is the terraforming secret that they have discovered: it allows plants to grow rapidly and instantly!

Check the Profile ID display – this is Liu’s pa*sword.

Fourth time Command Deck (

To unlock the terminal, head to Liu’s computer and type 1394 into the keyboard.

Liu reported that Elena Marquis attempted to explain to him something recently about someone not being who they say they were. Plus, he was given a hint by the Mess Hall that the code to get into the Briefing Room. They also discuss Captain Ascott being more involved in the hydroponics projects than usual. Simms and Ascott supposedly knew this. Finally, he mentions how the Captain asked for an unusual order of shampoo bottles (. This is strange because he’s) and that the Captain’s Quarters door has been damaged.

You can activate the lift to the Cargo Bays from the monitor at the wall and go down.

Walkthrough: Cargo Bays & Engineering

Cargo Bay is not accessible so you should go to Cargo Bay.

To the left of this room is a red container – inside is Liu’s manual door release for Captains quarters.

A tablet describing what happened is found on the ground near the antigrav units. Callaghan was doing some maintenance when he dropped an electrical panel crowbar to the Mess Hall. Two specific crates can be used to activate anti-gravity units. The tablet indicates that the alpha and beta crates must be placed in the crates. She also explains why the Engineering Gangway Code, which can be accessed via Medi-Bay, has been changed into 5525.

The monitor on the wall shows a cargo inventory that has been corrupted. The Helium Isotopes Box (serial number 09PN8-7 is described as “lighter than air” and the Holographic Environment Kit (weighing 49kg)). Place the boxes in the correct slots.

Once you have both of them in their correct slots, push that button to the right. If they are correctly inserted, they should slide up, and the crowbar will be visible on the floor. It’s yours. Take it and go up to Engineering via the Medi-Bay located on Deck 2.

Engineering Gangway, (via Medi-Bay. Deck 2.

Open the red container in the first room to grab the Mess Hall Emergency Light Isolator.

Check the monitor at the wall in the main engineering area to determine if the Engineering Database offline.

Two conduit panels will be found in the Emergency Power Cubbyhole. They are surrounded by number and letter numbers. There is a clue on one wall.

To get the Engineering Database online again, you will need to ensure that the routes between four letter/number combinations are in effect simultaneously. This will require having two routes on every board in the following configuration.

(A-F and 2 D on the lefthand board, then 1 toB and 3 E on).

If you have done it correctly, you’ll be able to hear a ‘beep.’ The monitor back on your gangway will now work.

You will see that the Mess Hall Code has been changed from 7531 to 7531. You’ll also notice that Bateman recently realigned communications and Ascott changed codes to the Armoury. These codes are restricted to Level 4 combinations. Now head to Mess Hall on Command Deck.

Walkthrough: Command Deck fifth time (

Mess Hall

Go into the kitchen to take a look at your waste disposal unit. A purple locket as well as a skull with an impact wound and bloodmark have not been properly dematerialized. This is what happened to Ensign Leah Callaghan…

Pull the shutters back with the button at the counter. You’ll see “lights out” written on them.

Go to the electrical panels and use the Crowbar on them. The Crowbar will disappear from the inventory once you use it.

The lights will turn on when you insert the isolatorchip into the panel. You can now go back to the kitchen to check the shutters’ backs.

To restore the lighting, remove the isolator panel from the panel. Then go to the Briefing Room.

Briefing Room

Elena Marquis claimed she kept a duplicate of the personnel files in a Briefing Room. For more information, look at the sealed conduit at back of the room.

The tablet at the desk indicates the code for the conduit. Head to the Captain’s Quarters.

Captain’s Quarters

Use the manual release provided by the cargo bays to the door. It will disappear once it has been used.

Go to the Captain’s Quarters and take a look at the executive desk on the chest. You will need to place the correct marble with a symbol in the slots on the top of this toy. If you put them in correctly, they will drop and reveal a code that opens the conduit door.

  • Put the diamond marble in the leftmost slot. Once it has rolled down, it will drop into the fourth spot. This will reveal the number 3 (for diamonds).
  • Place the omega marble in the second slot. Then, it will roll down into third slot. This will reveal the number 5.
  • The pound sterling marble should be placed in the third slot.
  • Finally, insert the sigma marmalade in the fourth slot.

The code 7153 is the number that appears in the order they landed in the slots.

Press the shampoo bottle in the bathroom. A Captain’s handwritten note will appear on the mirror stating that they have a spy aboard who has escaped with secret info. It is either Callaghan of Bateman, both of which are missing. It also states that the rest crew have been evacuated to two escape pods. Captain Ascott gives the final instruction to destroy escape pod No. 198A if they are still within range.

Briefing room (second time)

Enter the code 7153 into digilock via the service conduit.

Elena has destroyed her copy of personnel files. The remaining copy is now stored on Captain’s computer. She also revealed that the Bridge access code she received from the Captain’s orders has been changed, but she kept it somewhere ‘all can see’.

You can check the button beside the holodisplay at the table in central of the room. The globe image will change so that it shows 42. The button will turn to 08 by pressing the button once more. The code for Bridge is found when you add the two numbers 4208>.

To determine core temperature and pressure, you will need to check the wall sensors.

Captain’s Quarters

These are the maths required:

Pressure = 3.6

Core Temperature = 5175

Pressure x 10 =36

Core Temp+ (Pressure x10 – = 5125+ 36 = 5161

To unlock the personnel files, type 5161 into your keyboard Bateman’s toxicology expertise is evident. This, in conjunction with chemical references found in his quarters as well as the need for Science II’s Compound Actuator approval by someone Level 3 or above, suggests Commander Bateman created Tetramitrogen Hydroxycylin. It was then given to Elena Marquis who later died from critical hypertension.

Now that you have a better idea of who the enemy agent is and who the murderer is, it’s time to head to Bridge to take your last action ….

Bridge walkthrough

NOTE: The explanations for the three endings can be found at the bottom of this walkthrough.

**SPOILER WARNING IS IN GEFECT**

Use the code 42208 to access the Bridge.

There isn’t much to do other than look out the window, and decide on your next (and final) move.

You will find the AI Command console to your right in the room. Here you can select from a variety actions that the computer has suggested.

Choose your option, and you can watch your final

You can choose one of the two course options: either a pursuit course to escape pods or returning home.

The engines start to engage and you move forwards…the navigational bug that Bateman implanted in the system kicks-in and you crash into the Sun. The story depicts you at your parents’ house, where a Death in service’ notification is on the side. It is a memento of your actions. If only you had listened and not engaged the engines.

The wall monitor’s news bulletin reveals that the Onyx Syndicate had used terraforming technology to create a colony on Mars. Bateman would be honoured for his success in infiltrating the Alacrity, and stealing secrets from HM Space Command.

To complete the game, you must walk through the door.

Targeting EscapePods 157B / 187G

The computer starts the cannons firing and blasts both escape pods into smithereens.

You arrive back on Earth to attend the memorial service in memory of the crewman you lost in cold blood. Eight members of Alacrity’s crew died at your command and you now have to face the consequences.

The tablet in the chair to your right reveals your fate. You will have to appear before Court Martial and will leave HM Space Command with a damaged reputation.

The wall news bulletin shows that Bateman got away unharmed with the secrets and delivered the terraforming technology his masters at Onyx Syndicate.

Your mission is a complete failure. The only thing left is to exit the room through a back door and finish the game.

Targeting Escape Pod 198A

The computer fires up the cannons to attack Bateman’s escape pod. He is killed and the Onyx Syndicate is prevented from terraforming secrets.

You were eventually rescued and returned to your home to a warm welcome. HM Space Command presented you with the Venetian Star of Valour. Your commendation ceremony is where this story takes you. You can check the tablet on the chair at your left and then come to the front for the celebration that you deserve!

To end the game you must exit the room through the back door.
