Butterfly Knife “Marble Fade” Max Red Tip Pattern Guide & Tierlist – Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

admin

An in-depth pattern guide and tierlist for the Butterfly Knife “Marble Fade” Max Red Tip patterns!

Intro

As highly sought-after as the “Marble Fade” Butterfly Knife is – the most desirable patterns are the ones with the max amount of red on the tip (without fading into orange.) Unfortunately, there was not a lot of info on the patterns available – so I did the work of going through all the patterns and categorizing them so you don’t have to!

Obviously there is a large level of objectivity that must be acknowledged in regards to “tierlists” and I am not claiming that my opinion is the be-all-end-all in regards to the tier ranking – as everyone will have their own opinions and preferences. However, I have manually inspected all 1000 patterns, and have broken them into categories and tiers in hopes of helping you to decide which pattern is best for you!

It should be noted that this list is for the Factory New (FN) condition only and does not include any patterns that are exclusive to Minimal Wear (MW)

Pattern Categories Explained

To begin, I sorted through every single BFK “Marble Fade” pattern available for (FN) to manually to pick out the top BTA (Better Than Average) patterns.

For this guide, I decided to use CSMoney’s “Wiki” page to generated png images that give a much clearer view of the pattern.

I then entered the top patterns into a spreadsheet and sorted them and grouped them into categories based on the pattern categories I found. These are the patterns that I came up with:

MAX RED TIP

These are the main focus of the guide and easily the most sought-after of all the patterns. The goal of these patterns is to contain the max amount of red on the tip of the knife without the fade turning orange at the tip. This means that there will be patterns not included in this category that technically contain more of the red pattern at the tip – but are unfortunately ruined (and discounted by collectors) by the pattern fade continuing into an orange color at the very tip.

Example “Max Red Tip” Pattern (#329)

ORANGE (Fake Red Tip)

These are the aforementioned orange-tipped patterns that are considered “fake red-tips” by most collectors. These can still be sought-after patterns to the right collector – as they actually contain slightly more red near the tip (usually) than the true “Red Tips.” The orange at the tip of these patterns is actually very minimal and the trouble with categorizing these patterns is that, it can be very difficult to figure out exactly what is acceptable as a “true” Red Tip and what is considered a “fake” one because of how close some of the patterns are to both sides. To make things simple, I have placed every pattern that has any orange on the tip (no matter how small) into this category. Some of these are so close to “Max Red” patterns that some people may not even consider them to be “Fake Red Tips” – but if you really zoom in or look at them in game – you will see orange (PLEASE NOTE: Steam’s compression has slightly altered the color and resolution of the photos I have uploaded and the orange does not look as “orange” in these photos. If you don’t believe me – just look them up on the CSMoney Pattern Checker).everyany Because of this large level of objectivity – I would consider using your own judgement after seeing the photos.

Standard “Orange Tip” Pattern (#274)

Less-Obvious “Orange Tip” Pattern (#977)

TIER 1 “Max Red Tip” Patterns

THESE PATTERNS ARE IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER! – simply because there are simply too many patterns in this category with VERY minimal visual difference.

THESE PATTERNS ARE IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER! – simply because there are simply too many patterns in this category with VERY minimal visual difference.

These are the patterns that did not quite make the cut into “TOP TIER” but I thought they were good enough to include in a second tier.

ORANGE “Fake Red Tip” Patterns

THESE PATTERNS ARE IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER! – simply because there are simply too many patterns in this category with VERY minimal visual difference.

Please note that I have only added the best patterns for this category to the tierlist. Any other patterns that did NOT make it into the top tiers but are BTA (Better Than Average) will be lisited numerically at the bottom of this category.
