a guide to help people new to the Sonic Adventure Games to understand the Chao garden better!! <3 <3

✧ Introduction ✧

Thank you for checking my guide out!

Directed to everyone who is new to the older sonic games and doesnt really know what to do with the items, or is simply too lazy to look up a chao wiki every single time 🙂

✧ Different Eggs ✧

When you first enter ur chao garden, you will notice two ordinary chao eggs. Hatched, they will look like the default chao everyone knows and loves. But there are more eggs available at the Blackmarket Store, which for instance influence the color of the hatched Chao.

Here is a list of how the (neutral) adult chao look like, depending on which colored egg they hatched from

[!!!] Remember: the color also influences how ur chao will look like as Dark or Hero Chao.

I recommend this website a lot !! <3 very helpful for planning if you want ur blue chao to be raised as running swimming or flying type etc

✧ Dark- & Hero Chaos ✧

Depending on who you raise your chao with, the appearance will change.

Every chao has an invisible stat that determines whether your chao will turn into a Hero or into a Dark chao.

In order to raise a Hero chao you basically pet, feed and play with them as one of the three Hero Story characters :Sonic, Tails and Knuckles.

You can also feed them Hero Fruits, to increase the Hero stat! You can buy em off the Blackmarket.

Raising a Dark Chao works the same way, but you do alllisted things with characters from the Dark Story : Shadow, Rouge, Eggman.

There are Dark Fruits available at the Blackmarket as well, which increases their stat.

Raising a chao with both, Hero and Dark side Characters will lead to them becoming aNeutral ChaoType.

✧ Seeds & Fruit ✧

The Blackmarket has different fruits and seeds to offer, that all have their unique effects, depending who you are giving them to.

Chao Fruit

Ordinary Chao Garden Fruit| + Stamina

Hero Fruit | + Hero Stats for your Chao. + Stamina

Dark Fruit | + Dark Stats for your Chao + Stamina

Chao Fruit | + All stats (Stamina, Swimming, Flying, Running, Power )

Heart Fruit | + Stamina. Used to breed Chaos (explained later in the guide)

Round Fruit| + Stamina. Possible Favorite Fruit of a Chao

Triangle Fruit | + Stamina. Possible Favorite Fruit of a Chao

Square Fruit | + Stamina. Possible Favorite Fruit of a Chao

Every Chao has a preference for what type of Fruit they like! Take your Chao to the kindergarten and check at the doctor’s what ur chaos favorite is 🙂

You can even go ahead and buy seeds for trees that grow ur chao’s favorite Fruit!

Now how do I plant seeds after buying them?

Not your selected character, but a chao is going to plant the seed! in order to get him or her to do so, you first have to unlock two items. These items are easily obtainable. Choose ONE of ur chaos, to participate and win in two chao races on these courses:

Crab Pool Race (to win the Shovel)

Stump Valley Race (to win the watering can)

Your chao will now receive a badge ! congrats ur child or adult chao is now able to plant trees of his favorite fruit! ^0^

✧ Mating & Breeding Chaos ✧

Mating chao’s and having them lay an egg serves the purpose to breed chao’s with good stats!

In order to make them do so, you simply buy two heart fruit at the Black Market!!

Make sure to place both chaos next to each other, give them their fruit and the rest just happens automatically.

Over here i breeded an S rank swimmer with an S rank stamina chao for them to lay an egg

Remember : Only Adult chao’s can mate with each other. (we do not support chao pedophilia)

How do i breed the Perfect Chao ?

Breeding an all S rank chao can take a while, so be patient. Both parents have certain genes that the next chao inherits. Maybe, if you ever had Genetics in biology cla*s, you have heard of the Mendel’s law.

Chao Genes differentiate in recessive and dominant inheritances. Sounds complicated at first, but basically just means that your chao’s children might be an C rank swimmer, although both of their parents are an S rank swimmer. This is due to the fact, that the chaos grandparents might have been C rank swimmer types -> this is called a recessive inheritance.

Sometimes you are lucky tho and get an S rank swimmer.

Meaning the stats of the child Chao are randomized!

How do i breed them without wasting hours of my time and thousand of rings on heart fruits?

Well In theory you can simply close ur game ( over the small x in the window mode !!!! ) if you are not happy with the baby chao’s stats. With this method, the Chao data will NOT be saved, and you can give both parent chaos the heart fruits again, hoping they’ll breed a chao with the stats you wished for. 🙂

Anyways I will not focus too much on how to breed an S rank chao quickly, but i found other guides that sum this up pretty well!! check them out if you’re interested. <3

✧ Chao-Acessoires ✧

Ever noticed these weird items in the shop, wondering what a Bag, Pumpkin a Stump or even a Can etc. is for?

They are Chao hats !!! <3

Most of them look a little silly, anyways when you buy em and carry them to your Chao, he will put it on. Easy as that! I inserted a list of how the available Hats look like on normal-child Chao’s

They look pretty funny on Dark chaos in my opinion :3

✧ Chaos Drives and Animals ✧

In order to maximise ur chaos stats, you’ll have to replay several levels from the main story line! You might have noticed the items that destroyed robots drop, or the several animals running around hiding around the map.
