Fanatec CSL Elite Racing Wheel Settings are Crucial for Dominating in WRC 7

Hey there! As a fellow racing enthusiast who recently got my hands on the Fanatec CSL Elite wheel, I know firsthand how confusing all the control settings can be when you’re just starting out. Especially when it comes to a realistic rally sim like WRC 7, having the force feedback and vibration dialed in properly makes a huge difference in how connected you feel to the road.

In this guide, I wanted to share what I’ve learned about configuring the CSL Elite wheel for the best experience in WRC 7. I’ll walk you through the key settings step-by-step, along with my recommendations based on dozens of hours of testing out different configurations. My goal is to help you get the wheel feeling as natural and responsive as possible, so you can focus on mastering those rally stages!

What I’m Working With

First, let me give you an overview of my setup:

  • Fanatec CSL Elite Racing Wheel – this bad boy is a beast!
  • Connected to a Windows 10 PC (latest Fall Creators update)
  • Using Fanatec drivers v293 and wheel firmware v335 (newest as of Nov 2017)
  • Running WRC 7 v1.3 (Nov 2017 patch)

I also have all the CSL wheel settings at default, except:

  • BRF 30 – makes the brake pedal more sensitive
  • FEI 40 – tones down the crazy vibration strength

Okay, now let’s dive into those all-important force feedback and vibration settings!

Dialing in the Force Feedback

The force feedback is what gives you that vital connection to the road through the wheel. Here’s what each setting does:

  • FFB Level – the master level that scales the other forces. I like 80% but set wherever you want.
  • Spring – how hard it is to turn the wheel. 0% makes it turn freely.
  • Shock Absorber – resistance when turning. No need to go past 0% or it feels weird.
  • Constant – the strength of bumps and understeer effects. Start with 20% and adjust to your liking.

I’d recommend turning the spring and shock absorber forces down to 0% for a nice smooth rally feel. Then play around with the constant force to find the right balance of feedback intensity for you.

Getting the Vibration Right

Now for the vibrations – these settings really bring the road surface to life!

  • Vibration Level – the master intensity. I prefer 80% but again, personal taste.
  • Friction Vib. – intensity over bumps. 50% feels fairly realistic without going overboard.

The other vibration settings actually don’t seem to make much difference, so I’d leave them turned down.

And there you have it, my friend! With some tweaking of those key forces and vibrations on your CSL Elite, you’ll be flying down those gravel paths feeling completely dialed into your car in no time. Let me know if you have any other questions – happy racing!
