Full Checklist – Dying Light

A simple checklist of everything needed to achieve a 100% completed save file, that goes into detail on each activity and necessity to achieve full 100% completion.

Prerequisites and other information

Before delving any deeper into the guide / checklist, you need to know the following information.

To achieve 100% completion on a save file in Dying Light, you DO NOT need any DLC. Any DLC content is optional and won’t increase the percentage.

Likewise, Collectibles are 100% optional as well, not affecting the percentage of completion.

Several quests and challenges are bugged, where the case may be needed to highlight such quests / challenges due to bugs, i will bring it up.

Although The Following is a game-sized DLC for Dying Light, the main game is completely stand-alone from The Following, thus reaching 100% completion is not necessary for The Following and neither is playing The Following a requirement for getting 100% completion.

Each of these sections can be done in co-op or singleplayer, but it is recommended to do it in singleplayer to avoid bugs or network issues.

As time pa*ses, the guide will be updated to feature photos, more indepth explanations and many other things, as it is now at the date of (3/7/2022) the guide is a bit barebones, being mostly comprised of text.

If there are any questions, leave them in the comments and I will do my best to try and answer or update the guide accordingly.

This guide may have spoilers, and they WON’T be marked. Thus, this guide should only be followed after completing the main story.

Taking all of the above into account, time to start off the checklist.

Main / Story Quests

Dying Light has 15 Main / Story quests. Each one is mandatory for game completion and save file completion. Starting from First Assignment and ending with the beginning of Extraction, each one is doable in co-op, although for the purposes of this guide, its recommended to do the quests individually to avoid any problems that may arise from co-op.

The following Main / Story Quests are needed for 100% completion:

  • Awakening
  • First Assignment
  • Airdrop
  • Pact with Rais
  • Siblings
  • The Pit
  • The Saviors
  • Find the Embers
  • Higher Education
  • Public Face
  • Rendezvous
  • The Museum
  • Broadcast
  • The Clinic
  • Extraction

Side Quests

There are 52 Side Quests in Dying Light. Each one is mandatory for 100% completion. Some quests are bugged and do not update / track accordingly after completion. Those outliers will be marked and expanded upon where it is needed.

The following Side Quests are needed for 100% completion:

In the Slums:

  • A Baby is Born *** :This quest may present issues in showing up, you will be able to receive it after exploring close to the tunnel inbetween the Infamy Bridge and Brecken Tower, Crane himself will point out that he heard a woman screaming, afterwards you are able to investigate the quest.
  • A Survivor’s Guide to Zombieland *** :This quest becomes impossible to complete once you gain access to Sector 0, it is obtainable at the Barge further up north from the Fishermens Village, you will need to talk with a person named “Neil Fallon”. If you fail to complete this quest before entering Sector 0, it becomes impossible to receive and complete it anymore, requiring you to restart from “Pact with Rais” quest.
  • Assault and Batteries
  • Bandages and Meds *** :This quest will replace any gauze you find with Syringes and Painkillers. Until it is completed, obtaining Gauze may prove to be difficult.
  • Binoculars *** :A spot where Binoculars are guaranteed to be found is the Antenna Safezone nearby.
  • Cease and Desist
  • Coffee
  • Crayons for the Kids
  • Dulse
  • Electronic Parts
  • Firebug
  • Gas Mask Man
  • Ga*sed Up
  • Goodnight Mr. Bahir
  • Gunslinger *** :A pistol may be found easily immideatelly south-east of Brecken Tower in a house with a sign saying “Take anything you want”

  • O Brother Where Art Thou?
  • On the Hooks
  • Poisonous Herbs
  • Searchlights
  • Spare Gla*ses
  • Steal from a Thief
  • The Big Bang Thesis
  • The Launch *** :This quest may fail to show the track prompt and the player may go by the entire game without realizing it exists. If you are in this situation, head to The Antenna (Same one you visit during the Broadcast Main Story Quest. The entrance is in the north-east most safehouse close to where you get the dynamite for the Steal from a Thief Side Quest. Once you enter the door, the Quest should give a track prompt, after which it is easily completeable.)
  • The Prodigal Son
  • Total Security
  • Tunnel Vision
  • Voltage
  • Where’s My Mother?
  • Witch Queen *** :This Quest is one of the more notorious ones that may seem bugged. Once you receive Dahlia’s Shroom Potion, consume it immideately once you leave the Safezone. After your high is over, return to the same Safezone where she is to proceed onto the next quest,
  • Hunting Goon *** :Same as the quest above, except you need to bring her a Goons Liver. If you cannot find one, the game will mark one on the map for you. Once you receive Dahlia’s Liver Potion, leave the Safezone, consume it, and when the aftereffects are over, return to her to proceed with the next quest,
  • Kidney Punch *** :Just like the 2 quests above, repeat the same steps. Just like before, if you cannot find a Bomber, one will be marked on the map for you. Bring her the desired ingredient, consume the Kidney potion ASAP, then return to her when the prompt is given. This is the 2nd to last quest given by her, the last being:
  • Bring Me the Brain of Usain Bolter *** :Bring her 1x Bolter Tissue, and get the cloak potion. After picking it up, you don’t need to consume it, as the quest will complete after picking it up.

In Old Town / Sector 0:

  • Blocks for the Boy
  • Chasing Past *** :Others may have issues with this quest. It is received from the North-most Safezone in Sector 0.
  • Do You Believe?
  • Dungeon
  • Fan Zone
  • Fountain
  • Health Potion
  • Legless Spider
  • Lost in Space
  • Office Outpost
  • Radio Station
  • Rupert the Gunsmith
  • The Bunker
  • The Shadow of the King
  • Troll

Parkour Challenges

Aside from the main story and side quests, Dying Light features a number of various challenges, this section looking specifically at the Parkour Challenges.

The following Parkour Challenges are required for 100% completion:

In the Slums:

  • Twister
  • First Assignment
  • End of the Tunnel
  • Favela Fever
  • Tiptoeing to Gazi
  • Family Doctor *** : Only the first part of this challenge is available in the Slums.
  • Jealous Runner
  • The Best Runner *** : Only the 1st, 2nd and 3rd parts of this challenge are available in the Slums. Likewise, the challenge doesn’t show up when far away from it. The challenge giver is located close by the Brecken Tower, inside of a shanty house.

In Old Town / Sector 0

  • Blue District Fever
  • On the Edge
  • Not so Obvious *** : Challenge pops up only when close to it. It is located in the North-east of Sector 0.
  • Tower Run
  • Diagonal Run
  • Light at the End of The Can*l *** : Closest category this challenge would fit in, not entirely sure if it’s needed for 100% completion.
  • Underwater Light *** : Closest category this challenge would fit in, not entirely sure if it’s needed for 100% completion.
  • Family Doctor *** : The remaining 4 parts of this challenge are done exclusively in Sector 0
  • The Best Runner *** : The 4th and 5th parts of this challenge are done exclusively in Sector 0, with the Grapple Hook being disabled and the challenge being failed on any damage taken.
  • Being a Hero
  • Bozak Posters: Agility

Power Challenges

Just how there are Parkour challenges, there are also Power / Combat challenges that focus all around combat and unique ways of handling enemies.

The following Power Challenges are required for 100% completion:

In the Slums

  • Psycho
  • Killing Guide
  • Dying Lunch
  • Ultimate Weapon *** : Only the 1st and 2nd parts are available in the Slums.

In Old Town / Sector 0

  • Ultimate Weapon *** : The 3rd, 4th and 5th parts are available exclusively in Sector 0
  • Bozak Posters: Power *** : The Hunt Volatiles challenge can only be done during the nighttime.

Quarantine Zones

The last bit of content required for 100%-ing Dying Light are Quarantine Zones. Although these may not appear to be “Complete-able” they are indeed completeable. Quarantine Zones have no indicator if they were completed atleast once before or not, so either you will have to do them by memory, or keep track of them on a piece of paper / spreadsheet.

The following Quarantine Zones are needed for 100% completion:

In the Slums:

  • Bright Mountain Tunnel *** : Not to be confused with the Holy Year Tunnel Quarantine Zone, which is added by a DLC.
  • Chemical Storage
  • Stuffed Turtle
  • Sunny Apartments
  • Underground Parking *** : Caution should be taken, as this is the only Quarantine Zone that has a meaningful danger. There are ~5 Volatiles patrolling inside.

In Old Town / Sector 0:

  • New Antalya Apartments
  • Parking Lot *** : Not to be confused with Underground Parking, which is a Quarantine Zone in the Slums
  • Striped Dragon Hotel

Hellraid [! Read Note !]

NOTE: I am not 100% sure if completing Hellraid is needed to achieve 100% completion on your save file, but for safe measure i will be sure to include this in the guide as well, and when can someone provide info on whether or not Hellraid is needed for completion, this section will be either deleted or fully integrated as a section of the guide.

The following Quests in Hellraid are needed for 100% completion:

  • Clavis Stones
  • Imprisoned
  • Beneath the Seals

As mentioned in the Note above, i am not entirely sure if Hellraid is a must for 100% as it is a DLC. My reason for including it, is when i was doing my own save file, i did a few Hellraid quests and mixed in normal Side Quests, so i have no way of knowing if Hellraid actually contributes to total completion percentage or not.

Finale

Unfortunately, some users run into an issue where the game displays the progress being capped at 99% and there isn’t a sure-fire guaranteed way to get fully 100%, others have gotten it solved by running around, exploring, and doing other ingame activities, which at random seem to have increased their completion from 99% to 100%. Until it is determined what causes the game to tip over from 99% to 100%, this is the best anyone can do. All of the listed activities are supposed to bring the game completion up to 100%, but as I’ve mentioned almost 3 times already, this is the best anyone can do.

Rounding things up, those are all of the needed Quests, Challenges, Quarantine Zones and many other activities needed to fully 100% Dying Light. If you found this guide useful, feel free to leave a comment and a rating. Credits go to u/Vrbexx on the r/dyinglight subreddit for helping confirm DLC content and collectibles aren’t a necessity for completion.

Good night, Good luck.
