How to Play Nagoriyuki – GUILTY GEAR Xrd -REVELATOR-

admin

An easy to follow guide on how to play Nago!

Introduction

Firstly, I will refer to our boy as, “Nago” throughout the guide; simply because it is easier than writing his full name every time. Secondly this “Guide” is half a joke but will actually teach you how to play Nago at a basic level.

Also, I know as a beginner, notation reading sucked for learning actual movement of the stick/inputs, so I will be simplifying them down to understandable notation like “half-circle back, forward” and notation like that, Rather than writing “6-3-2-1-4,6”. (also image notation)

Lastly, this is not a combo guide, as much as it is a, “I want to know how to play the f-cucking character” type guide. The farthest I will teach in this guide is special cancels and roman cancels, the rest is up to you to lab out. because I want to give you the knowledge to bake a cake, not actually mix and bake it for you.

anyhow, I hope you enjoy the guide

Nago’s Move-set

Notable Mentions!!!!(AKA Things Nago cannot do):

Nago cannot dash forward with the, forward-forward input. Meaning he does not have dash cancels like other characters do.

He doesn’t have a double jump or air-dash.

All Information is available here for your own an*lysis.

BEEG NOTABLE MENTION!!!!!: you can combo into Nago’s super off of any special cancellable move. AKA any of Nago’s Normal attacks. Some other moves combo as well. But Normal moves will always combo if cancelled correctly.

**************************************************************************************************************

Normal Attacks:

Nago punches lol, (it’s neutral P)

Nago kicks (neutral K)

can Gatling (aka combos into) Forward K

Nago Stabs with his sword.

this auto-combos on block and on hit, if pressed three times in succession. The first and second hit can be special cancelled, the third must be roman cancelled.

Nago’s Close Slash, He slashes up popping up the opponent, when they are very close.

this auto-combos on block and on hit, if pressed four times in succession. The close hit, second hit and third hit, can be special cancelled, the fourth must be roman cancelled.

Nago Slashes his sword but, big and hard.

This can be special cancelled with ALL of Nago’s special moves.

Nago Swings his sword up, the longer you press the longer he waits to hit the opponent.

holding up after hitting dust allows you to dust combo in the air. Strive has tutorials on dust combos, and you can look up many optimal dust combos on YT for Nago Specifically.

Input Normals and Special Moves

Input Normals:

Forward P, or 6P as the fighting notation nerds say.

This is a Universal anti-air, every member of the cast has this move. If your opponent jumps in alot this is the move for you.

Forward K, or 6K as the fighting notation nerds say.

This move is more for calling out your opponent, if you know they are approaching with an unsafe move in the air or on the ground. It can be cancelled into after neutral K, you can only special cancel out of this move into, Beyblade, and Shoryuken HS. NEVER use this move by itself as i is very unsafe.

Forward HS, or 6HS as the fighting notation nerds say.

A good combo finisher.

Down HS, or 2HS as the fighting notation nerds say.

A large anti-air that can be special cancelled with ALL of Nago’s special moves. Have fun with this move, it is really good.

Down Dust, or 2D as the fighting notation nerds say.

This is a Universal sweep, this low, if hit, knocks the opponent on the ground. However you can combo off of a hit confirm with any of Nago’s special moves.

Special Moves:

Beyblade, or 214HS as the fighting notation nerds say.

Nago SPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENSSSSS

this special is special cancel-able, into anything that is not itself.

Teleport, or 214K/236K as the fighting notation nerds say.

you can hold the last direction

and K to cancel this move into itself repetedly.

to go forwards, or

to go backwards. (when facing right)

this special is special cancel-able into anything, including itself.(as stated above)

Funny Projectile, or 236S as the fighting notation nerds say.

Nago Shoots a clone of himself forward. it is slow but goes full stage.

this special is special cancel-able, into anything that is not itself.

Sucky Sucky P, or 623P as the fighting notation nerds say.

A command grab that FULLY DRAINS YOUR BLOOD GAUGE

Shoryuken HS (First Hit), or 623HS as the fighting notation nerds say.

Nago swings up, popping up the opponent.

this special is special cancel-able, into anything that is not itself.

Shoryuken HS (Both Hits) or 623HS,HS as the fighting notation nerds say.

Nago swings up, popping up the opponent, then swings down slashing the opponent on the floor.

this is a good combo ending move.

Super Moves and Blood Gauge

Re-iterating this before the section about supers:

*************************************************************************************************************

BEEG NOTABLE MENTION!!!!!: you can combo into Nago’s super off of any special cancellable move. AKA any of Nago’s Normal attacks. Some other moves combo as well. But Normal moves will always combo if cancelled correctly.

**************************************************************************************************************

Blood rage occurs when your blood gauge fills up, your blood gauge is filled when you use special moves. some fill it more than others, and you always need to keep an eye on your blood meter.

(The wiki I linked earlier goes into more depth on blood gauge and gives numbers, frame data, etc)

Nago has 2 Supers, both of which depend on if you are in blood rage or not.

While free of the hornyness(Blood Rage):

If you have 1 meter, you can do his normal super. Inputted as:

Which looks like this:

This super, if hit close, launches the opponent into the air and hits them with a 19 hit combo. If hit far away, it just pops them up for alot of damage.

While in Blood Rage(Nut gauge, or December First as I call it):

Basically, health and special moves, go bye bye.

This Super goes fullscreen, does a ♥♥♥♥-ton of damage if you hit with it, but can be jumped over or blocked.

Thank You for Visiting/Reading!

If you read through all of this, welp, thanks. I find Nago to be one of the most fun characters to play and made this guide simply because Baiken was announced for Strive. (I mained Baiken in Xrd Revelator)And I hope someone makes a guide for her as well. I hope I helped some of the newer Nagoryuki players learn something. Anywho, I’ll see y’all around. 🙂
