Interesting Cloak And Dagger Spots – Team Fortress 2

For those spys who want to go the extra step

Overview

This means that you are likely interested in spying, which is great! Everybody could use a bit more game sense when it involves hiding, whether you are trying to make trickstab competitions on YouTube or for your team.

Maps

To make this guide easier to understand, I will break it into maps. I may not be able to visit all the maps in Tf2 so I will update this guide whenever I can.

2Fort

2Fort is a very popular map in TF2. There are hundreds upon hundreds of community servers where you can play casual games. Even though the map is popular, spying on your enemies can be difficult, especially if you’re running the cloak-and-dagger.

The 2Fort Bridge

This trick is for spys who want to escape from dying every five minutes while trying to enter an enemy base. You can also walk on railings, which will protect you from enemy fire. The downsides are that mad milk and jarate can still be thrown onto the bridge, and fire can still snag on you. It’s a great way for most cla*ses to not die.

The 2Fort Sewers

The sewers can be difficult to access, whether you are trying to take the enemy sewers or retake it. Even though this hideout is helpful, it can still be difficult to get around. To make it less annoying for enemies, you can back up to shrink your hitbox.

The Red Box

You can crouch between the shelf and the milk jug because of what appears to be an oversight in a source engine. You can always jump crouch into the area between the milk jug and the shelf if you are being followed by a pyro.

Blu Barrels

This is a well-known one and you will often see it. It is pa*sable in a pinch, however, any competent engi/pyro will check it sooner than later.

The Courtyard Stairs

Both the Red and Blu bases allow you to crouch down and jump under the steps at the courtyard’s entry. Many people don’t know that you can fit under the stairs. It is useful for quick getaways, or planning to take out the engis who always hang out on the balcony.

The Intel Stairs

Another one that is compatible with both red- and blu bases. Jumping into the rock wall to one side can allow you to stand in indent. This allows you to escape dangerous situations and recharge your cloak in preparation for going to Intel.

The Intel Desk

Because you don’t pick up the Intel while cloaked, this allows you to hide in a heavily guarded Intel area because you know at minimum three engineers will end up there. Also, the desk’s lip makes it easy to crouch so you don’t need to hold the button.

The Boxes just Outside Intel

Just outside of Intel’s spiral, there is a stack containing boxes that allow you stand on them. This is a great place for gaining health from the health kits and also protects against being discovered from random spychecking.

The Battlements Lip

You can stand on your lip to access the battlements outside the room, as you have likely seen from sticky jumping demos or scouts. It also serves two purposes: it can be used to hide from snipers and as a jumping spot to backstab a soldier or heavy.

Badwater

One of the most widely used payload maps, however, comes with many problems for spying. The first point and the area immediately preceding it are extremely difficult for spying. Hopefully this will help to make your life as spy easier.

Last’s Railing

Although it seems obvious, you’d still be surprised at how many people fail to check this.

The Pipes

The area is a good place to hide. It will protect against huolong and trigger happy Pyo’s, but you can still get caught by stickies or rockets splash damages.

Lasts boxes

The basic principle is the same as the pipes, except you have your back facing more people and won’t get splashed as often. Snipers may jump up on you though, so you need to be aware.

The Shelf

I’ve never heard of this one, but you can actually reach the top shelf in the room next to the boxes.

The Ramp

If the cart is not currently on the ramp, it is located just to the right of second point.

The Corner

It is not a popular spot because other cla*ses also like to hide here which can lead you to get killed or bumped into by the enemy team. Although it sounds extreme, you’d be shocked at how often that happens.

The Rocks

Just behind the first point, you can jump up onto the rocks to hide. It allows you to remove the sentry nests that are always placed there.

Information

I just want to let people know that the guide isn’t complete. It is worth checking back every once in awhile for new maps, and hidden spots for maps that I’ve already done. I’m grateful for your time and I wish you a happy day.
