The Quick and Easy Guide to Team Battle Achievements – Ultra Street Fighter IV

admin

Do you want to get the Team Achievements, but don’t have enough friends to help? What if I told you that you only need one?

What Are Team Battles?

Team Battles are a subset of the Multiplayer Battles in Street Fighter IV, and can be found in that menu. There also are several achievements that require you to participate in these Team Battles, including winning matches and making the lobbies.

However, Ultra Street Fighter IV is an older game at this point (2022) so gaining these achievements may seem to be an impossible task. You CAN get these achievements without having to create a lobby, then sit around waiting for more people to show up.

What Do I Need?

One Steam friend with their own copy of Ultra Street Fighter IV.

If you don’t have a friend, then check the forums! There have been a couple of threads started by people looking for a*sistance with the multiplayer achievements.

That’s all you really need. Once you have a friend and can find a time where you both can play together, move on!

So, How Does This Work?

Both you and your friend should read through this guide first so you know the steps to take.

1) Once you fire up the game, go into Multiplayer Mode.

2) Next, select the “Team Battle” option.

3) Now you want to “Create Match.” It will bring up another menu where you can select your options. For best results, make these choices.

Lobby Type = 2 on 2.

Time Limit = 30

Private Slots = Off (unless you and your friend want to send each other invitations each time)

Variant = Elimination. Note that this mode means that each match will only be one round. If you want this achievement done quickly, that’s a good thing!

Now tell your friend that the lobby is set up, and they can search for it using the “Custom Match” option in the “Team Battle” menu. If your game is public (meaning no private slots) there is a chance that someone else will join, but that chance is very slim. If they do join, though, the more the merrier! They may be looking for the same achievements as you are!

4) Once your friend joins, go into the Team Settings. Choose your color (red or blue) and have your friend choose the opposite color.

5) Select Ready, and you two will be able to fight!

“But wait!” you may be thinking. “There are four player slots! Don’t I need two more players?” The answer to that question is, surprisingly, “no!” This team battle will simply have two teams of one player each.

There is an “I” in “team” if you don’t spell it right.

Excellent! So, now what?

Once you’ve finished your first fight against your friend (which should be fairly quick, thanks to that 30-second time limit) the winner of the team battle will be declared. This should unlock one achievement for you right away (Team Player) and, if you won the match, the Team Mate achievement. If you are both after the same achievements, then back out to the Multiplayer menu, let your friend create the next lobby, and continue!

One of the achievements is to win 10 Team Battles (Teamworker), but you don’t have to win them in a row. So for the first 20 matches, I recommend alternating. Whoever is hosting should be allowed to win each round. After each of you gets the Teamworker achievement, though, then keep alternating who is hosting, but then it’s no holds barred – whoever wins, wins!

Something important to note – there are no points to win or lose in the Team Battles. As a result, you don’t have to worry about losing player points while going for these achievements. However, you’re not going to score any points for your individual characters, either (so you can’t use this to get the C to Shining C achievement). For those, you’re going to have to keep working on those ranked matches.

Once you and your friend have each hosted 30 Team Battle lobbies, you should have unlocked the Team Lobbyist achievement. This is one of the rarer achievements in the game, but with the speed that you’ll be going through these matches, it really shouldn’t take more than two hours for both of you to get it!

Awesome! But What About “All For One?”

Unfortunately, for that achievement it does look like you still need to actually have a team of four players. I did try this with my son (who was a big help with testing this out) and with an eight-player lobby, it didn’t pop. But even so, this technique works for getting a good portion of those pesky team achievements!

Thanks for reading! This was my first guide, so I hope you find it helpful!
