Treasure Hunting: Finding Collectables – My Garage

admin

There’s more to the island then repairing and building cars, like treasure hunting for rare valuable collectables!

Collectibles: How, Why, Where

There is hidden stuff through the island located in places you may not normally look! Most of the locations are off the main road or hidden in some corners of the map not very traveled, so that’s a good reason to get a car and go exploring. Another reason is you can’t use a taxi to get collectibles back, you need to have a car or hold them and walk back.

Note that collectibles only seem to spawn once, right at the start of the game, and do NOT persist through saves, they are simply for selling to the store down near the docks (which will be explained next section).

However, not everything applies to that, only things marked as “Collectible”. There are some things you can take back and claim for yourself, like various crates, tables, and shelves for decoration and such.

You may find these all over the place, however behind the junkyard seems to be a very common and reliable spot for finding some.

The Pawn Shop

Behind the gas station next to your garage there is a small dock with some boats, in some of the shipping containers there is a small pawn shop where you can sell various things to earn money, and where you go to sell collectibles you have found since collectibles do not transfer through saves. There is a sign on the pawn shop that says this as a reminder. Collect all the collectibles you can before you quit!

Here is a image of the pawn shop:

Types

As I mentioned before there are what I would consider to be three general types of collectibles that spawn through the island for you to get. I break them up into UtilityStorage, and Treasures.

Utility: Provide some function and seem to persist through saves. Stuff like new tables and shelves and the like.

Storage: Allow you to store items inside of them for transport. Boxes, crates, chests, those sorts of things

Treasures: The shiny expensive stuff you wanna find. I’ve seen everything from chairs and speakers to golden lamps! These do not persist through saves so if you find any, take them back as soon as you can!

Utility Finds

This type of collectible generally have a use for the player directly, and do not despawn when you save and quit.

Treasure Finds

These are the most interesting to find, however they despawn when you Save and Quit and will NEVER respawn from my testing so find them as fast as possible.

For all of these, they are movable by hand and can be sold to the pawn shop, however they cannot be transported if you take a taxi so you have to have your own car.

Adding to the List

If you find any treasures not listed here out and about, please feel free to tell me! Even better, get a clean picture (No UI, No crosshair, trimmed to be around the treasure only) and I might add it to the list here!
